AYBSA BASEBALL: FALL TRYOUTS 2019 SEASON

Baseball Players ages 10, 11 & 12.

SUNDAY OCTOBER 21st.

REMEMBER YOU MUST REGISTER TO TRYOUT!

NOTE: PLAYERS WHO ARE ALREADY DRAFTED TO A MAJOR LEAGUE TEAM ONLY HAVE TO REGISTER FOR THE 2019 SEASON AND DO NOT HAVE TO ATTEND THE TRYOUTS!

 

WHO:  The fall tryouts are required for ALL players baseball ages 10, 11, and 12 for 2019 season. Note: All 9 year olds will be trying out in the spring 2019.

WHY: Arlington Youth Baseball starting this year, will do 2 tryouts (fall and spring) in order to allow players ample opportunities to show their skills. All players who are registered and paid will be drafted onto a team after the spring tryout.

 You must try out to be considered for a Major League team.

WHERE: Tryouts are at Buck Field, Summer Street

WHEN: The tryouts are scheduled for SUNDAY October 21st with players assigned a time based on the first letter of their last name (as shown below).

WHAT: The players will go through multiple skill disciplines, such as: fly balls, infield, throwing, hitting and running.

Note:  Questions always come up, we will answer now. YES, you can come earlier or later, if your schedule demands it. You would just inform the COACHES when you get there. The next question is what happens if I can’t make it, you can still play, you must register and attend the spring 2019 tryout. Makeup date would follow if it is rained out.

TIMES:

9:00AM to 1:00PM

Updated times alphabetically will be posted on the home page closer to the tryouts.

 

PARENTS PLEASE BE PATIENT DEPENDING ON THE AMOUNT OF KIDS WHO COME OUT FOR THE TRYOUT TIMES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE!

PLAN AT LEAST AN HOUR WAIT TIME.

Open Manager positions for 2019: Major/Triple-A leagues

Open Manager Positions 2019

 

For those interested in managing a Major League or Triple-A league team this upcoming 2019 season, please contact Ken Bergeron - Major League director or Jim Hassler – Triple A director  at the level that you are interested in working in.

We are looking for strong baseball backgrounds and prior coaching experience.  Candidates will need to commit the time for practices, games and the coordination of all team and league affairs.

Managers will also be required to attend all of the tryouts and draft their own team.

New program offering for 9-year old players in 2019

AYBSA NEW PROGRAM OFFERING FOR 9-YEAR OLD BASEBALL PLAYERS IN 2019.

 

 

In an effort to balance player numbers and enhance the player experience, AYBSA is pleased to announce for the upcoming season we will merge the 9 year old baseball players with the Triple-A league. During the past two seasons, we have been successful at integrating select 9 year old players in the Triple-A league. This will offer a more competitive league with additional teams, providing all players with a more positive experience.  Those players who will be baseball league age 9 in 2019 season will have tryout/evaluations in late winter/early spring for coaches to review and draft teams. All 9 year old players will be placed on a Triple-A teams for the upcoming season.

AYBSA Spring 2019 Programs

 

 

Baseball        Tee Ball    League ages 4- 6 

This Instructional League is intended to teach basic skills (throw, hit, catch flies, field grounders, and run bases) to small groups of boys and girls. The first half of each session is devoted to instruction. The second half of each session is used for game playing using a batting tee. Tee ball team’s practice/play on Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 3:00PM to 4:30PM at various fields throughout the town. Rosters will be set around mid-April and the first session will be the first weekend of May and ends on Father's Day weekend in June.  Rosters are generally based on school districts. 

 

Baseball        Double A (AA)   League ages 6 & 7

This Instructional League further teaches basic skills (throw, hit, catch flies, field grounders, and run bases) to small groups of boys and girls.  Rosters will be set in the middle of April and practices will be scheduled soon after.  The season will start the first weekend of May and end late June.  Generally, there will be 2 games a week with one of them on the weekend.  Games start at 5:30PM during the week and various times on the weekend. 


Baseball      Eights   League ages 8

This league is for Eight year olds that have already had at least one year in the AA league.  The purpose of the league is to be slightly more competitive than AA with more of the rules of the Major division.  This age group will participate in a try-out/evaluation late March.  After the try-out there will be a selection process to construct rosters base on talent and school district.  The rosters will be finished by early April and practices will begin soon after.  Games will start end of April and end late June.  There will be 2 to 3 games a week with one being on the weekend.  Start times during the week will be 5:30PM and various times on the weekend.

 

Baseball        (NEW) Triple A (AAA) League ages 9 thru 12

The new Triple-A league will consist of players league ages 9 through 12. The 10 through 12 year olds will participate in tryouts in conjunction with the Major league in fall and late winter 2019. The 9 year olds will have a seperate tryout in late winter 2019.  After the Major draft the remaining 10 to 12 year olds will be drafted onto the Triple-A teams along with the 9 year old players. Players are required to attend at least one tryout in order to be eligible for the draft. The number of teams in the Triple-A league will be determined by the number of players.  The rosters will be finished by early April and practices will begin in mid-April.  Games will start during the end of April and end in late June.  There will be 2 to 3 games a week with one being on the weekend.  Start times during the week will be 5:45PM or 7:45PM and weekends on Saturday morning or evening.

 

Baseball       Majors    League ages 10 thru 12

This age group consists of player league ages 10 through 12 only. New players will participate in a try-out in the fall and late winter 2019 in order to be drafted onto one of the 10 Major league teams. Players are required to attend at least one tryout in order to be eligible for the draft, no exceptions.   Players already on a Major league roster from the previous year do not need to tryout and are only required to register.  After the try-out there will be a draft to fill the 10 Major league rosters.  The remaining 10 to 12 year olds not selected will be drafted on to the Triple-A teams.  The rosters will be finished by the middle of March and practices will begin late March, early April.  Game will start end of April and end in late June.  There will be 2 to 3 games a week with one being on the weekend.  Start times during the week will be 5:45PM or 7:30PM and weekends in the early afternoon and evenings.

 

 

Softball       Minors League ages 7-9 year

Girls ages 7, 8, and 9.  This is a developmental league.  The season will start with coach pitch and eventually develop into player pitch.  Focus will be on fundamentals and learning the game.  Teams will be compiled by the league director and managers. Games will be held 2-3 times a week and will include weekends.  There will be pre-season practices and clinics during the season.   Managers may include practices during the season.  Managers will reach out to parents to assist with the team.  Space will be limited to maintain reasonable size rosters, a waitlist will be started at that point.

Softball    Majors League age 10-12 year Fast pitch

 

This is a competitive league, players pitch, and play six innings with patched umps, with some modified rules.  Games are played 2-3 games a week and may include a Saturday.  Pre-season practices will be scheduled and practices will be scheduled during the season also by the manager.  There will be a tryout for all new players in early March, practices will start end of March beginning of April.  League games will open the beginning weekend of April vacation and end with playoffs the end of June.  Space will be limited to maintain reasonable size rosters, a waitlist will be started at that point.

  

Softball    Minuteman Softball League ages 13 thru 14 Fast pitch

This age group will participate in a try-out in early March.  After the try-out there will be a draft to fill the junior league rosters.  The rosters will be finalized at the beginning of March and practices will begin late March, early April.  Game will start during the April school vacation and end late June.  There will be 2 to 3 games a week with one being on the weekend.  Start times during the week will be 5:45PM and various times on the weekend.

* League age is age of child on April 30,20XX for baseball; December 31, 20XX for softball.
